LIXARE® Clinical Research Summary The laboratory that developed the hexapeptide molecule performed skin topography analyses on a group of healthy women. These analyses measured the effectiveness of an emulsion containing a 10% concentration of ACETYL HEXAPEPTIDE-3. Silicon imprints from around the eyes were obtained pre test and then again after 30 days of twice daily applications. Analyses of the imprints were performed by confocal laser scanning microcopy to assess the evolution of the skin surface before and after treatment. Skin topography images from three-dimensional reconstruction of optical sections show that the depth of the wrinkles significantly decreased after this 30-day treatment. Botulinum neurotoxins, BoNT A, is the most potent toxin known to man. Because (BOTOX®) injections paralyze muscle contractions, its use is under strict medical control. For this reason, many people who would like to achieve the effects of this procedure are reluctant to use it. Acetyl hexapeptide-3 (Ac-EEMQRR-NH2, coined Argireline), a non toxic amino peptide, temporarily limits release of the neurotransmitter (catecholamine). By limiting the overproduction of the catecholamine, nerve stimulation to the facial muscles is reduced. The skin shows a marked reduction in the depth of existing wrinkles and is aided in the prevention of the formation of new ones. |
